How to make faux clouds using Stampin Up sponges & masks

Hello everyone and I hope the day finds you well.

I have been practicing some new techniques lately, one of which is sponging and once I'd made this card I thought it was perfect for entering into some 2 of this weeks online challenges ..

The challenges I have entered it for are...

  and

Here's a closeup of those little eggs all teetering in the Patio Party paper shredded nest; can you see how glossy they are with Crystal effects?

The clouds were created using the faux cloud method which involves cutting scallop ovals or circles out (the clouds) and then sponging around the edges in a colour ink of your choice. Stampin Up sponges are just perfect for this to create a soft, daubed look and at £3.25 for 3 there are truly economical! I just cut mine up  little into eighths and allocate one for each different colour ink I have.

The designers series paper I have used today is Patio Patio which has the delightful colour combos of Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, baja breeze, whisper white which pretty much fulfilled the colour challenge in one hit :)

The bottom of the banners was made using the "v" of a heart punch to ensure accuracy - just another tip to show how versatile the punches really are.

So, to make this card you will need:

  • Whisper White cardstock106549 £6.25 for 40 sheets
  • Midnight muse cardstock 127546 £6.25 for 24 A4 sheets
  • Patio Party designer series paper 126916 £9.95 for 12 12"x12" double sided sheets

  • Stamping sponges 101610 £3.25 for 3
  • Baja breeze classic stampin ink pad 126960 £4.95
