Stampin Up UK sweet sorbet sale-a-bration decorated wooden bird box

I've said before that nothing escapes decoration here at Vintage Towers. And our bird box is no exception - well you've got to entice them back in haven't you! For all we know they too might read Country Boxes & Living ;)

I started out with an old wooden bird box that I found in a back of a cupboard that I had previously decoupaged but no longer liked it ;) Using the new Sale-a-bration sweet sorbet paper I covered all faces with it.

I've used soft sky taffeta ribbon on the edges to soften them and then cut lots of Top Note die shapes, distressed them around the edges before layering them over each other to create the roof tiles.

Some coordinating butterfly punch shapes in matching cardstock (got to love Stampin Up for coordinating card, inks, papers & embellishments so well!) and finishing off the perch and entrance hole with more punched scallop circle shapes.

To finish off, I hand made some rolled paper flowers using more Sweet Sorbet paper - I was very sceptical when I first received the paper pack about the black pattern but I think it works really well now! The flowers were finished with knots of coloured twine from the Sweet Sorbet accessory pack.

Have you had a look through the new Stampin Up spring/summer catalogue yet? If not - here it is in PDF format - don't forget for every £45 you spend you'll choose one or more Sale-a-bration free products too!

Stampin Up UK Heartfelt pompom decorated notebook

I'm a sucker for pretty paper - any size, pattern, colourway - you name it I love it :) I've even been known to stockpile it and just gaze at it lovingly from time to time ;) Thankfully my family is very understanding of my need to protect my paper and NOT LET ANYONE ELSE TOUCH OR USE IT! Catch my drift? :)

Today's project started out as a cheap notebook - no frills, no cover, nothing special. Until it got a makeover courtesy of TOMORROW's exciting release of the Stampin Up Sale-a-bration Sweet Sorbet paper free with a purchase of £45+.

And the pompoms? Today they're in their natural form - not tweaked into a bluebird or other shape ;) They come straight from the Sale-a-bration Heartflet banner kit - again free from tomorrow with a £45+ order.

Did you spot the brand new cork embellishments? Cork is hot, hot, hot this year craftwise - another excuse of overhaul those cork coasters you've got lurking in thr back of a cupboard. Why not run thrm through the Big Shot with a Fun Flowers or Blossoms die and make your own cork embellishments? The mini pegs are part of the heartflet banner kit too :)

Now I just have decide what to actually write in the newly converted notebook - it's a bit too pretty to be written in really - don't you think? ;)

To get your hands on the Sale-a-bration freebies from tomorrow (28th January) simply pop over to my online store by clicking below - you'll be automatically prompted to choose your freebies once your product order reaches £45 :)

Do you have any crafting supplies obsessions?

Stampin Up UK Sweet Sorbet Sale-a-bration Spring fairy & Heartfelt bluebird

My project is a little different and shows how versatile Stampin up products are - they're not just for your traditional cards, scrapbooks pages & papercrafting (or for Christmas)!

You may recall my Very merry vintage Christmas angel I created for Christmas - well here's a playmate for her :) She's my Sweet Sorbet Spring fairy complete with needlefelt bluebird peeking out from under her skirts :)

I started with a traditional wooden peg and crafted a cone base to keep her upright then tattered & ripped a Stampin Up mini muslin bag and dip dyed it in Calypso Coral ink for an ombre effect - the ink seeps up the muslin perfectly.

Her bodice and skirts are made from the forthcoming Sale-a-bration sweet sorbet papers - the colours are just perfect for Spring and match the Pantone predicted colour trends for 2014. Some calypso coral twine from the Sale-a-bration sweet sorbet accessory pack nips her waist in and doubles as her hair (quite fancy this shade myself!). The bodice is simply made with the Stampin Up blossom punch.

Her wings were an experiment which I'm happy to say worked!! I didn't want to use any of the colours in the three Stampin Up dazzling details glitter glues  ..... so I created one of my own! Simply mix some iridescent dazzling details glitter glue with a few drops of your chosen ink colour from one of the re-inker bottles into a little pot and voila coloured glitter glue to match your card/paper! I paint mine on with a fine paintbrush and use it in a variety of projects including my art journalling and upcycling embellishments.

The little bluebird started life out as one of the pompoms in the Sale-a-bration (free with order over £45!) Heartfelt banner kit - you get nine gorgeous needlefelt poms poms in the kit in three juicy spring colours. With a little tweaking here and then and the addition of a little beak & eyes - hey presto a cute little bluebird.

Crafts, creations, 52 lists & life in photos week 4 2014

A quiet week at home predominately writing and crafting punctuated by some beautiful frosty mornings, parents evenings at school and catching up with my scrapbooking - I've entered into 2012 now woo-hoo (except that I started at 2010 so really have at least 8 years to go back too!). Here's our week in photos January 2014 week 4 ...

52 lists

This weeks list prompt was things that remind me of home .... what reminds you of home? If you'd like to play along pop over to my Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/267781336705159/ and join in!

One Little Word

I'm currently awaiting some 8"x 6" binders from the USA to pop my work so far in to - preferably before we move on to February's work! There's some 3,000 other people all over the world joining in with One Little Word and there are 5 of us who have chosen Today as their word. My mission this week is to try to connect with them and get their perspectives :)

My work is being featured tomorrow morning in a blog hop - starting at 8am make yourself a cuppa and spend half an hour blog hopping with me!

Stampin Up UK Cute childrens colouring book gift card

I like to make my own party bag favours when the girls have a birthday party. Firstly, it's more unique and secondly, generally less expensive! So these cute little colouring gift cards were just perfect gifts for our 5 year olds birthday celebrations last week :)

Starting out with a tri-fold card I simply added pockets onto each piece to hold a variety of colouring paraphenalia - colouring pencils, cards to colour, stickers and other embellishments.

The little animal stamped images are from the lovely Storybook friends stamp set - lots of vintage style animals and children to stamp.

The papers are the gorgeous Birthday Basics - a colourful bright range of cheerful birthday/celebration style patterns which suited this project perfectly. The lovely ice-cream coloured twine and printed cork embellishments are from one of the new Sale-a-bration goodie pack free with orders over £45 :)

The little tags are made using a brand new punch appearing in the new Spring/Summer catalogue next week combined with Sweet Sorbet sale-a-bration papers and stamped characters from the Fox and Friends stamp set.

I used a piece of ribbon wrapped around the card to fold it together and secure and then stamped each recipients name out using my Typeset Alphabet dies and adhered to the front - and promptly forgot to take a photo of this step ;)

Just a reminder, my weekly roundup of life in photos and 52 lists (this week it's Things that remind me of home) will be here tomorrow (Friday) to make way for an exciting blog hop sale-a-bration showcase starting at 8am GMT Saturday 25th January. Be sure to pop back then!
