Decorating post it note pads with Stampin Up blossom punch & Retiring products last chance lists

So, here we are again at the end of another week and month! 

However it's an exciting day as Stampin Up! have released their list of retiring products & accessories from the 2012-2013 annual catalogue - check out my left hand side bar for the PDF lists (one for stamp sets, one for accessories) & see below for more info on how to grab your favourites - some of them are discounted! -  whilst stocks last!




Today's project it super cute, quick & easy - just right for a Friday :)


I made this little gift as a thank you for my friend Nicky; she had done me some favours for which I was very grateful! I simply cut a piece of cardstock and some retired Sale-a-bration paper and measured the post it note pad twice plus a bit, scored it twice where the pad joins together, glued the paper to the card and then folded the ensemble around the pad using the last post it note to secure the pad to the card.   


The hand made flower was made with lots of blossom punched pieces - I was making this in the evening and didn't realise I had chosen two totally different shades of blue card ;) I punched out approx 10 shapes with the blossom punch (125603 £15.50) and then continually wrapped them around each other building up the flower as I went.

The little tag sentiments are from the newly retiring Tiny Tags stamp set - one of my all time favourites! I finished off with one of the large 8mm basic rhinestones 129324 £4.50 for 40) in the centre for a bit of bling :)

Stampin Up Stippled blossoms stamps in jam jar

Ooohh great news this morning, my Sweet Threads spool box was the winner over at Loves Rubberstamps challenges this week - take a look at it here! Love the cute little owl winners badge I am now proudly sporting to the left!

Back to today ... here's my stamping interpretation of a gorgeous bouquet of flowers received for my birthday at the weekend from my darling husband and daughters :)



I've used the beautiful Stippled Blossoms set; it requires two step stamping with the first stamp (the more solid stamp) being stamped first in the lighter colour and then the second stamp (the more detailed stamp) being stamped over the top to give the highlighted details. I've used a mixture of raspberry ripple, pretty in pink, pink pirouette, melon mambo and rich razzleberry to achieve these blossom effects. 


The leaves are stamped in exactly the same fashion using certainly celery & gumball green. The vase is stamped with a now retired set - Perfectly Preserved - onto vellum which allows the flower stalks also from this set to be seen inside it. 

A little pretty in pink cardstock ripped and distressed and a crumb cake punched modern label and we are done for the day!

Stampin Up Peacock feather & feel goods stamped card

Aaargh another wet, cold & windy day :( My feathers are surely being ruffled by the poor weather both yesterday and forecast for the next few days ahead - my poor girls are on half term and not able to bounce around outside.

Anyway, we spent Sunday at the local wildlife park as my birthday treat and whilst there saw a pair of magnificent peacocks - the girls were lucky enough to find a feather which was thoroughly admired and proclaimed one of the most beautiful things on the Earth! On my return I dug out my Fine Feathers stamp set and stamped this card for them to pop into their This & That smash books (don't forget to drop me a line before the 31st May to get your 15% discount off the fabulous This & That bundle - see here for more details)



I coloured the beautifully detailed stamp with my marvellous markers in Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Crumb Cake, Basic Black,Tempting Turquoise & Pacific Point - a gorgeous array of yellows, blues & greens. I tried to copy the feather the girls had but oh my the detail & colour array was astonishing! I do hope I have done it justice!




I layered Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Gumball Green & Island Indigo together to make the based card and as the stamp was so striking, I decided it needed very little embellishment.

 The sentiment says it all - especially regarding the beauty and awe inspiring of Mother Nature.

Flowerpot card using Stampin Up blossom party die

Today I'd like to show you how I use up my scrap pieces of paper - I plant them! This cute little flowerpot card is an adaptation of one I previously made here. I've changed it by using ribbon to keep the card together as opposed to glueing it. 



For this card, I've used Cajun Craze cardstock for the terracotta pot which was scored and folded over to make a flap. The front of the flap was punched with the scallop border trim. I then trimmed the square pot equally on both sides on the diagonal to create the pot shape.

I decorated the "pot" front & back with More Amore designer series paper and the slipped a smaller piece of Cajun Craze overlaid white whisper white into the "pot" and cut to size.



 I stamped the sentiment from Feel Goods in Baja Breeze and then secured it to the cajun craze piece and slipped it inside the pot. Using the Blossom Party Die I made lots of flower layers using small scrap pieces from a wide variety of the designer series papers that coordinated with the More Amore papers. Once die cut these were layered on top of each other with dimensionals and then the edges were slightly curled up. I finished the flowers with a subtles button with twine threaded through. 




These flowers were glued to the cajun craze/whisper white sentiment card and some leaves cut in Gumball Green using the Bigz Autumn Accents die completed the card. The ribbon is Baja Breeze taffeta and the tags are from Tiny Tags secured with a tiny silver brad.

How to make keyrings, necklace pendants & rings using Stampin Up soda pop tops

Well hello again! I hope your Monday is going well - we have a bank holiday here in the UK which means an extra day off - yippee!! And double yippee that the sun is shining AGAIN today! I received an email last night to inform me I made the top 3 over at Catered Crop this month for my Beau Chateau birthday box as seen here :)

I've had my eye on the Soda pop tops in the Spring/Summer catalogue for a while now (shiny, shiny - magpie ;) so decided to order some and have a play. I need to be making some party trinkets soon and thought they would be perfect. So I set to work (well hardly work as it's too much fun to be work!) Not the greatest pictures today - apologies :(


I flattened my pop tops (129388 £3.75 for 16) in my Big Shot (place an order of £25+ with me by end of 31st May for chance to win one!) and then stamped with the Collage Curios stamp set (w 129099 £18.95, c 129102 £14.95), full of lots of ickle vintage & retro images that perfectly fit the soda pop tops just perfectly. 

The larger pop top was stamped in crumb cake ink with the script design stamp and the rose using Calypso Corql & Old Olive marvellous markers and then I sponged the edges to look more aged. I punched it with the 2.5cm circle punch, glued it onto the soda pop top then covered it with Crystal Effects which sets to give it a sealed and glossy look. I punched the now flattened pop top with my punch tool then threaded the key ring attachment through it.


With the smaller pop top I stamped using one of the Itty Bitty Bits (w 117056 £10.95, c 120060 £8.95 - fabulous prices!!) stamps again coloured with marvellous markers in melon mambo and dafffodil delight and undertook the same process, but this time mounting it onto a ring plate. I think these will be really cute gifts boxed up, especially if I put the recipients initials on the pop tops as well :)

Hand made card flowers made & Stampin up postage due & thats the ticket stamps

Hope your weekend is going well; here in the UK we have a bank holiday extra day off tomorrow and the girls are on school half term next week so I intend there to be some serious relaxing going on - and of course, a little partying today as it's my (21st again!) birthday ;)



Here's one of my favourite Stampin Up! colour combinations - basic grey & pink pirouette - what are yours?

I've used basic grey as the background and then bordered the Postage Due stamped image with Fan Fair designer series paper. The paper perfectly echoes the script on the stamp - although it can be taken for granted that with Stampin Up products coordination is king!




I've hand made some scallop circle punched flowers using my crimper tool in matching colours, sprayed with smooch spritz for extra pliability & then secured with brads. Stamped images from Postage Due & That's the Ticket are nestled among the blooms punched using the square punch & the Ticket Builder Duo punch. 


The sentiment is from the wonderful Bring on the Cake - very apt for my special day today! I have stamped it using Whisper White kraft ink and then embossed it with white embossing powder so it stands out really cleanly.

Happy Days with Parkers Patterns & Notable Alphabet

Today's card is a lesson learnt - there was I thinking Parkers Patterns designer series paper in the Spring/Summer catalogue was designed with men in mind since it was also displayed with more masculine style stamp sets. Hence sadly, it was overlooked here at Vintage Celebrations Towers.

However, on perusing my stash it dawned on me how like leopard print this particular paper in the Parkers Patterns suite was - what do you think? 


Now having 4 young girls,we see a lot of leopard print around here so I am au fait with its versatility, hence todays card teamed with Calypso Coral in various guises. 

The background card is crumb cake with the Parkers Patterns overlaid, a banner of First Edition accompanied  by a Calypso Coral scallop edge punched border and some Artisan Embellishments lace and a vintage faceted button and I think we have quite a pretty card :)



I stamped and fussy cut the letters from the Notable Alphabet set; I love the fluidity of these letters, they make me smile :)

Altered kraft gift box made into cotton reel with Stampin Up sweet threads embroidery kit

I was thinking of a gift for a friends birthday who has been inspired by The Great British Sewing Bee recently on BBC2 and came across this cute little cross stitch Sweet Threads Simply Sent set (126924 £11.95) comprising 8 printed & folded cards in Lucky Limeade & Primrose Petals, 8 pre-pierced die cut pattern pieces for cross stitching with the embroidery floss & needles included.


Decided to continue the theme and I hand drew a cotton reel using the woodgrain piece from the Natural Composition papers (126917 £11.50 for 12 12"x12" sheets) to decorate the Kraft gift box with (124106 £2.75 for 4 boxes) and I used some of the pretty polka dot cards in the Sweet Threads pack to decorate the top & sides of the box with.


After attaching the decorated panels I wrapped some cherry cobbler bakers twine (123125 £2.50 for 22.9m) around the box and threaded the buttons from the Artisan Embellishments kit (129328 £8.95) and stamped a sentiment from the Little Friends stamp set (w 122665 £21.95, c 122667 £17.95).


The box was filled with the remaining cards, cross stitch pieces & a variety of Stampin Up buttons, fabric & ribbons for her to sew at her hearts content!

How to make a fringe birthday card using Stampin Up create a cupcake stamps

So, here we are again! Today sees a birthday card with a fiesta flavour - I love fringing and it's so quick and easy to do with great effect! 


Firstly I made my own background by cutting my Whisper White cardstock and then I covered the Perfect Polka dots embossing folder (117335 £7.50) with So Saffron ink using my brayer (102395 £10.95)  which gives an even coverage to larger areas and then ran it through the Big Shot (see here on how you have a chance to win one!) which gave the card this distressed dotty background. I like this technique and will be trying it more! 

Next, I used Designer Series Paper stack (126910 £19.50 for 40 12"x12" sheets) in the In Colours of Raspberry Ripple & Summer Starfruit along with some Pink Pirouette  designer paper and made fringe layers by snipping the papers and then slightly curling them (bit like eyelashes!) The fringes were finished with some taffeta ribbon.


The create a cupcake stamp set (w 121905 £20.95, c 121982 £16.95) was stamped in pink pirouette, so saffron & raspberry ripple then punched it with the matching Cupcake Builder punch (121807 £15.50) I used the many marvellous markers to get the different colours on the candle :) A sprinkle of sparkle finishes it off.

Last but not least as the card is destined for a very discerning 12 year old friend of my girls I used a snippet of Storytime designer series paper (126907 £9.95 for 12 12"x12" double sided sheets) as an age banner!


 


That's made me feel hungry now - but as today is fast day on my 5:2 diet then I will resist and indulge in the veggies instead :(
