Custom made cake toppers have become really popular in the last few years and this pinwheel & pennants handmade paper topper is such a pretty addition to a cake!
The garland cake topper is so easy to make - you just need pretty paper and punches! I've used a couple of new products being launched on 28th January in Stampin Up's new spring/summer catalogue - read about the new products here first in a couple of weeks time!
This topper was made for my #3 daughter Eliza's 5th birthday last week - she had a pyjama mermaid party - how's that for a theme to work with!! However the colours of this new paper perfectly coordinated with the mermaid theme in shades of coral, sea greens & turquoise blues :) I'm a happy girl when that happens ;) The straws supporting the topper are covered in Gingham Garden washi tape to match and the letters are die cut using Stampin Up's Typeset Alphabet dies - one of my most favourite products :) The pinwheels were made using the recently retired pinwheel die - picked up in the clearance rack sale!

Needless to say Disney's very own mermaid Ariel put in an appearance or two in the proceedings - namely in the party decor, tableware and cakes - glorious concoctions of mermaidness & sea life covering a delicious vanilla & buttercream sponge courtesy of Banbury based Cakes for All.
And with topper in place :)
My favourite cake flavour is Baileys Chocolate Fudge although I'm also very partial to carrot cake too - what's your favourite flavour?
