Unsure which creative, craft or handmade business to start? Read this to help you decide

Most of us want to be successful in life - whether that's success defined through becoming wealthy, a role model, an influencer or an expert in a chosen area.

And we're all equipped with a different variety of skills, talents, specialisms, talents & perspectives to become successful.

It's an even better feeling to be able to earn an independent income to support a family or enable you to reach your personal goals from utilising what comes easiest to you.

But what if you're not sure what you actually want to do in your business?

Introspective

SuccessSpark#23 Identify, list & prioritise your talents & where your passions lie. Focus on the talents that make your heart sing when you indulge them. Figure out how you could offer your talents as products & services to benefit others, touch their lives and feed their desires. That's the foundation of a successful business.

How learning from other crafters can make your craft business boom!

In a world of 7 billion people it's unlikely you are the only one creating the products & services you offer. However you are the only one creating them in the way in which you do.

Others have done the groundwork before you, walked the walk, talked the talk, fallen & got back up, experienced successes and failures. Can you learn from them?

No need to reinvent the wheel when you can learn from others experiences and move forward based on what has worked and what hasn't.

We all have role models, influencers & competitors - do you know how they became successful? Well known? Held in high esteem? Research them and find out then apply the learning to your own business.

Don't ever copy exactly - innovate and put your own unique spin on it. And don't forget to thank & credit those that inspired you in the first place.

SuccessSpark #22 Watch, follow, research & learn from those you aspire to do business like. Then create your own strategies to build your own success.

Why a 1 minute business description is vital to attract new craft customers

Ever heard of an elevator speech? It's a 1 minute maximum sentance you say to describe yourself or your business. It originates from imagining being in an elevator (or lift if you're in the UK) and heading to the same floor as one or a group of people you'd like to introduce your business to.

One of the group asks what you do. What do YOU say?

Glass Elevator 1

My personal elevator pitch combines both my business and myself - I simply say "I'm a creative business marketing expert offering free marketing tips, e-programme and consulting services to creative businesses" then to lighten the mood I add on "Oh, and I'm also a mother to 4 daughters." That guarantees engagement.

Now whilst I'm not advocating you too have 4 children of the same sex for something to talk about, being able to summarise yourself or your business in a short, sweet & simple way enables you to hold a persons attention long enough to get your message across and to give rise to an opportunity for further questions. So don't miss your chance when it comes - create your elevator speech today.

SuccessSpark#21 Create your 1 minute elevator speech to use
for whenever anyone asks "what do you do?"
